Doxy-PEP: clinical insights with Dr Ethan Salleh

In this HIV Australia podcast, we speak with Dr Ethan Salleh who is working at the forefront of sexual health, to explore the use of doxy-PEP as a tool for preventing chlamydia and syphilis. Ethan discusses how it’s being used in clinical settings, what the current evidence tells us, and the importance of ensuring access and equity in its rollout. He also discusses stigma, choice, and how a sex-positive approach can support better health outcomes. Ethan concludes with offering valuable insights into the future of STI prevention in Australia.

Dr. Ethan Salleh is an s100 General Practitioner with a special interest in sexual health and HIV medicine based in QLD. Ethan brings a wealth of experience in sexual health and HIV medicine, which is complimented by a strong research background in HIV and STI prevention.

He’s also a Senior Lecturer at the University of QLD and plays a key leadership role in the sector – chairing the Brisbane Community HIV Prescribers group (or CHiPs) and serving as Secretary of the Sexual Health Society of QLD. He is also a clinical facilitator with ASHM, training future prescribers in the care of people living with HIV.

Beyond the clinic and classroom, Ethan is passionate about fitness and wellbeing and brings that same holistic approach to his work with patients.
