Responding to crisis with clarity and connection

Amid a funding crisis and the absence of core support, the International Community of Women Living with HIV Asia Pacific (ICWAP) has taken bold steps to stay true to its vision and strengthen its sisterhood across the region. Determined to remain connected and resilient, ICWAP has developed a new Communications Strategy (2025–2028) that places digital communication at the heart of its work – transforming how the organization engages, informs, and supports women and girls living with HIV.

This strategy marks a pivotal shift for ICWAP, positioning communications as a catalyst for organizational impact, visibility, and collective empowerment. Through a cohesive approach, it addresses both internal and external communication needs, ensuring that ICWAP’s mission, values, and objectives are clearly conveyed to members, allies, funders, and sister networks.

Delma Yeki, Chairperson of ICWAP, said:

‘The 2025–2028 Communications Strategy serves as a transformative roadmap for ICWAP, positioning communications as a catalyst for impact, visibility, and change. It centers the voices and leadership of women living with HIV across the diverse Asia-Pacific region.’

The new strategy aims to ensure consistent and accessible messaging so that members, staff, volunteers, and partners stay aligned and informed even when in-person meetings are not possible. By leveraging digital platforms, ICWAP will provide timely updates, share best practices, and highlight member stories, fostering connection and peer support across borders.

Sita Shahi, ICWAP’s Regional Coordinator, said:

‘We realized there was a lack of consistent communication among our governance team and members.’

‘This strategy will guide us in strengthening our communication systems – benefiting not only our organization but also our wider sisterhood in the region.’

Through this renewed digital approach, ICWAP is turning communication into action – building solidarity, amplifying women’s leadership, and ensuring that no member feels isolated or left behind. Even in challenging times, ICWAP continues to connect, empower, and lead with clarity and compassion.
